A MUST READ : Why The Results Of Some Candidates Won't Be Released – Registrar

Examination body, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board on Thursday states that the results of candidates identified in footages of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) to have indulged in unwholesome practices during the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) won't be released.

Registar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, who spoke on Channels Television Sunrise Daily said the agency had been busy in the past days reviewing recorded footages of the examination across the country, and that a number of candidates had been marked out for sanction.

Oloyede, was responding to a question by one of the anchors of the programme on why some candidates were yet to receive their results despite promises by JAMB to release outcomes within 24 hours.

The registrar said, “Those who have not received (their results) are qualified not to receive for now. In all cases where there were no problems, we released results of the examination within 24 hours.

“But those who have not (received their results), they may not be culpable but we are investigating. Where we have reason to doubt anything or where we have report of anything that is not acceptable to us, we have withheld the results.

“And we will keep on releasing them as we clear them. For instance, this morning, we released another 15,000 results. But among those who sat in that centre, we have reasons, concrete evidence to say about 300 of them, their results will not be released because we know they were not in the hall where the examination took place.

JAMB 2017 Change Of Course/Institution Has Started

We just received information that the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB) has started selling forms for the 2017 Change of Course/Institution.
According to the reports we received, the processing and submission of the form can only be done at accredited CBT Centres across the country.

Before you carry out the change of course/institution process, there are some important decisions you need to make. Below are some of those decisions;
1).Decide the exact Course/Institution you would like to make changes to. Make these decisions while you are still at home, your parents/guardian can be of great help here. Do not make this decision at the decision at the CBT center because chances are that you will make serious mistakes.
2).Research properly on the institution/course you want to change to ensure they will suit your JAMB score especially if you have seen your score. Make sure the new course/institution you choose will give you a higher chance of getting admitted.
3).Bear in mind that once the form is submitted, you can no longer make any changes again. That means there no room for errors.
4).It is extremely important that you select a Course/Institution that aligns with your subject combination, else, your chances of getting admitted will be jeopardized.
5).There may be a limited number of schools or courses you can change to, so be sure to have 3 or 4 options, just in case the one you want to change to is not available.
You could be charged about N2,500 or more to effect these changes.
Please use the Online JAMB Brochure to ensure the course you are choosing is done in your choice institution.
We wish you success and hope to see you in your dream institution

A MUST READ: Important Things To Do That Might Save Your Life During Accident

Here are important things you can do, that just might save your life during an accident. A road is something no one wants to experience, well, there are steps to take to help prevent bad occurrences such as injuries and even worse, death.

Take a tips below, and make sure you follow them next time you are on the road.

1).Always Wear Your Seat Belt

This is something you should never ignore. I know most of us do this when we see road safety officials ahead of us. But that’s not enough, seat belts are there to save you, so try to make use of them.

2).Keep Potential Flying Objects Safe

At times during an accident, it is not the collision that causes the damage, but the objects in the vehicle. You sure wouldn’t want sharp objects or any object that could cause harm to you, flying around, so keep objects you don’t use frequently in the boot. Keep your pen in the glove box. To stay safe.
When buying a car try to shift your focus from just the aesthetics and fuel economy of the car. You should also take into consideration the crash tests and safety ratings of a car before buying.

3). Don't Over Speed

Have you come across this before, speed thrills, but kill. Well, if you a true road user, you must have come across this fact. Even if the road is totally free, you should limit your speed. In case of an accident, when you are not over speeding the force of impact would be less and injuries minimal.

4).Aim For An Object That Would Do Least Damage

In case of an accident, aim for an object that would do least damage, both to yourself and others. This is why you should always be alert and conscious of your environment, when driving. Children are lighter than you are and can easily get thrown around when an accident occurs. So keep them buckled up always!.

5).Always Have Emergency Number On Speed Dial

Always have an emergency number on speed dial. If possible activate voice control on your phone ,because you might not be able to move. You should also have phone numbers of loved ones saved and on speed dial, with easily identifiable names like “wife” and “mum” etc. This helps.

A MUST READ: JAMB Set To Watch CCTV Records Video To Uncover Candidates Who Score High Mark

Some people wont like this new development as JAMB made a big decision to watch Circuit Camera Televisions (CCTVs) of just concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to uncover the truth behind candidates scoring high mark. e.g 378

JAMB Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Sunday, expressed confidence that such would enable it to detect where there were actually examination malpractices.

Those who know they were involved in any acts inimical to our examination ethics should not celebrate as their inglorious days of punishment will soon surface”, he said.

“Again, we want to seize this opportunity to debunk messages being circulated by those who do not wish our education well that the Senate has passed a bill urging the board to add extra 40 marks to candidates.

“There is no bill anywhere, not even a motion has been tabled before the two chambers of the National Assembly on the board’s 2017 UTME performance.

The board wants to state for the umpteenth time that our examination is not a ‘fail pass’ examination; it is a selection examination, so, it can never be said that there is mass failure.

“It will be absolutely wrong for mischief makers to begin to analyse an examination that has just been concluded without even looking at the overall result.

We urge candidates to disregard all funny connotations online on their results as the board will not contemplate doing all that is being speculated as that will negate the ethics of an examination body as critical as JAMB”, he said.

Benjamin hinted that the board’s major concern had always been to ensure that cheating during and after examination were reduced to zero level, and this, he said, the board had substantially achieved.
In addition to ensure that the 2017 UTME met international best standards of transparency, the Registrar had constituted a taskforce with the mandate to examine the entire conduct of the examination

He said the taskforce is also expected to investigate malpractice cases and recommend likely sanctions in accordance with the provisions of the Examination Malpractice Act.

Furthermore “One of the likely benefits of this taskforce which has renowned scholars and management staff is to ensure that it identified challenges to be addressed so that they don’t occur subsequently.

In conclusion “The board is determined to ensure equity and fairness to all candidates and will not hesitate to allow the weight of the law to deal with whoever is involved in any infraction,’’ the JAMB official added.

SEE THE : Things You Should Know About Your Cholesterol Level

You’ll be surprised how little people know about something as important as their cholesterol level. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares 6 things you should know about your cholesterol level.

1. Your Body Actually Needs Cholesterol

Cholesterol actually has health benefits which your body needs. Cholesterol helps to make key hormones, synthesizes vitamin D, is an essential component of cell membranes and is needed for brain and nerve function. The problem, however, is when the level of cholesterol in the body is excessively high.

2.There’s Bad Cholesterol and Good Cholesterol

Cholesterol is carried through the body by high-density lipoproteins (HDL) and low-density lipoproteins (LDL). LDL is considered the “bad” cholesterol because it deposits plaque in your arteries; HDL is considered the “good” cholesterol because it transports bad cholesterol from your batteries back to your liver, where it is removed from the body. Typically, a high LDL cholesterol poses a greater risk of heart disease, while high HDL is protective against heart disease.

3.Genetics and Diet Can Cause High Cholesterol Levels

High cholesterol can be caused by your diet and it can also be inherited. Some people inherit genes that cause their bodies to make too much LDL, and eating foods that are high in saturated and trans fat (like cheese, red meat, fried foods etc.) can also raise LDL.

4.Physical Activity

Remember the saying, “Your body has so many joints, because it was made to move”? There’s no truer saying. Aside keeping you fit, physical activity helps boost HDL and flush bad LDL out of your system.

5.Eat Some Nuts

Nuts and olives are the two main foods believed to contain nutrients that help to stop LDL from damaging arterial walls.

6.Regular Checks

It’s recommended that everyone age 20 years old and older should have their cholesterol level measured at least one every five years.

Another strike looms in Unibadan as management bans the use of "hotplates"

Another strike seems to be looming over the Premier University, the University of Ibadan popularly known as UI.

Trouble, according to reports, started during the handing over of the newly elected executives of the Student Union body on May 8, 2017.

The newly elected President of the Student Union, Ojo Aderemi during the ceremony had stated that all females should start using "hotplates" in the kitchenettes and if any body should harass them, they should report to the Union. He said this while the Vuce Chancellor was seated.  The Vice Chancellor in return said if students should go on strike, lecturers would still collect salaries.

On Friday May 12, 2017 which is today, the management of the University of Ibadan banned the use of hotplates in every hostel (both male and female). In a statement released, any student caught using it would have to face the Student Disciplinary Committee (SDC).

During the Adewole administration, the use of hotplates was banned only in the female hostels but now it has been banned in both hostels.

The Kingston Dome went around asking students how they feel about the latest development.

Seun (real name withheld) said "this is injustice to all students"

Another student who pleaded anonymity said "I only pray that the Student Union does not embark on a strike that would affect me".

From most student reactions, another strike looms the Ivory Tower.
